WASHINGTON – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Jason Smith (Mo.) spoke on the House floor to slam President Biden for refusing to take responsibility for creating the worst inflation crisis in 40- years and driving gas prices to an all-time national high.

As Smith noted, the president wants people to believe 40-year high inflation is someone else’s fault, but his solutions to this crisis highlight his own complicity in driving up the cost of everything from gas to groceries.

In addition, Smith blasted President Biden’s plan to lower gas costs, which includes begging foreign countries to pump more oil even though his administration is waging a regulatory assault to stop U.S energy production.

President Biden also sold nearly 1 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to a Chinese energy company. Smith coauthored an amendment this week to block the administration from ever doing it again.

Following Are Smith’s Remarks:

“President Biden’s reckless agenda is sending our nation hurtling towards a recession.

“The president wants people to believe 40-year high inflation is someone else’s fault, but his solutions to this crisis highlight his complicity in driving up the cost of everything from gas to groceries.

“One of President Biden’s solutions to rising energy costs is begging foreign countries to pump more oil. This is the same president who is waging a regulatory assault to U.S energy production.

“His administration has sold nearly 1 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to a Chinese energy company. It’s unbelievable! I’m coauthoring an amendment to block the administration from ever doing this again.

“As a fighter for working families, I’ll keep doing everything I can to hold the administration accountable for driving inflation to the highest level in 40 years.”
