Congressman Jason Smith Visits Fort Leonard Wood

Smith learned about operations at the Fort and met with members of the military

Rolla, MO – On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, Congressman Jason Smith (R-MO) toured Fort Leonard Wood to learn more about daily life on the Fort meet with service members to understand the economic impact of the Fort to rural Missouri. Smith’s visit included a Command Brief detailing the many activities on the Fort and a tour of the military installation.

Smith had high praise for the service members he met at Fort Leonard Wood.

“Our service members at Fort Leonard Wood are proof of America’s military strength. These men and women are highly-trained professionals and I enjoyed getting to spend time with them to learn more about their daily lives. Also, a lot of folks do not realize that Fort Leonard Wood contributes over $3 billion annually to Missouri’s economy and is responsible for 36,400 direct and indirect jobs in our state,” said Smith. “In the House of Representatives I am working to ensure our military has the resources it needs to defend Americans and American interests at home and abroad. Additionally, I will keep working to make sure our service members and their families receive the support and respect they have earned with their selfless service to our nation.
