On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, Congressman Jason Smith visited Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains to tour their new medical office building. Located adjacent to the Shaw Medical Building and hospital, this expansion of approximately 100,000 square feet includes specialty clinics and ancillary services, along with a new restaurant called Grill 59, a coffee shop, gift shop, chapel, retail pharmacy, and more.

“Access to rural healthcare is absolutely critical, which is why I am proud to have supported this incredible expansion since it was proposed,” said Congressman Jason Smith. “The new medical building will allow Ozarks Healthcare to serve more patients with state-of-the-art technology and ensure that the people of Howell and the surrounding counties have care nearby when they need it.”

The specialty clinics located in the new building include Ozarks Healthcare Endocrinology, Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), General Surgery, Infectious Disease, Neuroscience, Rheumatology, Urology, Heart and Lung Center, Orthopedics and Spine, Pain Management, and Podiatry. Ozarks Healthcare’s Imaging, Lab, Patient Financial Services, and Registration Departments are also located in the Medical Office Building.

In 2017, Congressman Smith visited Ozarks Healthcare and toured the proposed site expansion, then wrote a letter of support for a USDA Community Facility direct loan, which was approved for $52.8 million. Ozarks Healthcare opened the building earlier this year.

Congressman Jason Smith tours the new Ozarks Healthcare Medical Office Building, which was built with funding provided by a $52 million USDA Community Facility loan. Smith has urged completion of the project, which provides convenient access to several types of healthcare services for thousands of southern Missourians, since its proposal in 2017.
