Smith Congratulates Southern Missouri Students on 2022 Appointments to U.S. Service AcademiesToday, U.S. Representative Jason Smith (Mo.) congratulated Missourians from the 8th Congressional District who accepted appointments to attend U.S. service academies. Out of all the qualified candidates throughout the district, only four students nominated by Smith received appointments: Sam Malone of Jackson will attend the U.S. Naval Academy, Brock Larsen of West Plains and C.J. Posey of Sikeston will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and Samantha Loida of Ste. Genevieve will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy. Smith praised the students’ talent and leadership skills, and encouraged them to continue setting high goals for themselves. “One of the greatest privileges of my job is nominating outstanding students from the 8th district to attend one of our U.S. service academies,” said Smith. “These young leaders worked incredibly hard to earn their spot at one of our nation’s highly competitive service academies. I’m very proud of all they have accomplished and know they will make Missourians proud as they get ready to take this exciting step in their pursuit of a military career.” Smith is currently accepting applications for 2023 nominations to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy. To receive a nomination packet via email, contact the congressman’s Farmington office at 573-756-9755 or email donna.hickman@mail.house.gov.
