MOUNTAIN GROVE, MO – On June 5, 2017, Congressman Jason Smith met with Dr. Logan Williams in Mountain Grove, Missouri to learn how he started his veterinary practice and discuss federal regulations that impact small business owners in Missouri.
Williams shared with Smith how an Obama-era regulation called the Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) complicates and slows down his veterinary practice with unnecessary paper work.
“The Veterinary Feed Directive is another example of Washington, D.C. bureaucrats’ uncanny ability to create a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist,” said Congressman Smith. “Last year, I introduced legislation to repeal the VFD. I hope President Trump’s administration will heed my concerns and take action to end a regulation that has hurt our local farmers and veterinarians.”
Williams recently graduated from the University of Missouri and started Williams Veterinary Supply, a large animal veterinary service. He shared how the business got off the ground by first going to conduct large animal visits in his truck before opening his own office in Mountain Grove. He also shared his work to continue to grow his veterinary practice with Congressman Smith.
The visit to Williams Veterinary Supply in Mountain Grove is one of the many small business stops for Smith this week. In addition to meeting with other small businesses in southeast and south central Missouri, Smith is hosting small business roundtables across his congressional district to hear firsthand what challenges small business owners are facing.
