As Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee – the chief tax writing committee in Congress – I authored the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act: a pro-growth, pro-family, and pro-America tax package that builds off President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and, just like that landmark legislation, puts families, workers, and small businesses first. Working families and small businesses win big under my Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. According to estimates based on analysis by the Joint Committee on Taxation, provisions within the bill would account for $600 billion in tax relief and incentives over the next decade if the policies were made permanent. In addition, an analysis by the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn-Wharton Budget Model argues that provisions in the bill provide $200 billion in tax incentives for job creators and American workers over the next two years alongside $20 billion in enhancements under the child tax credit. Last week, I led every Republican member of the Ways and Means Committee in sending a letter urging the U.S. District Court for District of Columbia to hand out the maximum sentence to Charles Edward Littlejohn for his crimes of stealing and subsequently leaking private and confidential American taxpayer information, including the private data of President Donald Trump.
