Today, Congressman Jason Smith (MO-08) welcomed Reverend Jennifer Moxley to Washington D.C. for the 65th Annual National Prayer Breakfast. Reverend Moxley currently serves as associate pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, MO.
“It was an honor to have Reverend Moxley as my guest to the National Prayer Breakfast this morning. The breakfast is a special opportunity to join with thousands in reflection and prayer for not only our nation, but also for friends, neighbors and loved ones back home. Having someone like Reverend Moxley joining me in those prayers makes this occasion even more powerful,”said Congressman Smith. “Reverend Moxley has dedicated her life for the work of God and helped spread the message of the gospel throughout the Sikeston community during her time there. Sikeston is blessed to have a God warrior like Reverend Moxley who is passionate about acting as an instrument of faith in southeast Missouri. I am excited to see how Reverend Moxley continues to use her God given talents to bring people to Christianity.”
The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual gathering of political and faith leaders from across the country and around the world. The National Prayer Breakfast serves as an opportunity for elected officials and religious leaders to come together and talk about the role of faith in all our citizens’ lives. This year’s keynote speaker was Senate Chaplain Barry Black and the opening prayer was led by Chicago Cubs player and 2016 World Series MVP Ben Zobrist. President Trump also spoke to the crowd of over 3,000 politicians, dignitaries and religious leaders gathered for the 65th Annual National Prayer Breakfast. Among this year’s attendees included King Abdullah II of Jordan and Pastor Rick Warren.
