Today’s vote was about standing up for my neighbors in southeast and south central Missouri who want a lower cost of healthcare. Our repeal of President Obama’s healthcare law will end unfair penalties on families who are being forced to buy something they don’t want and get Washington bureaucrats out of the relationship between you and your doctor.

Folks in our area are some of the strongest and most resilient found anywhere, but 25,800 of them are being supplied with second rate care through only one option for health coverage – without action, projections are that those same folks will have no options to be covered next year. I refuse to stand by and let that happen.

The solution advanced today will help lower healthcare costs for everybody and continue to cover those with preexisting conditions. In addition, it is the most significant and expansive pro-life policy advanced since the ban on partial birth abortions. We will continue in our steps to rip the Obamacare law out by the roots while providing real healthcare solutions for families. I hope the United States Senate will act quickly and pass this legislation to restore fairness and transparency to our healthcare markets.
