SALEM, MO – Congressman Jason Smith met with Dent County Commissioners Darrell Skiles and Dennis Purcell and Montauk State Park Superintendent Doug Rusk on Friday to inspect damage from recent floods.
The Dent County Commissioners shared their work to ensure county roads are safe for residents to travel and their work to rebuild its infrastructure to be ready for tourist season.
Rusk showed Smith damage sustained to cabins at the park and what they are doing to get ready for campers.
“I am grateful to Dent County officials who are working to make sure the county’s infrastructure is ready for an influx of tourists and to the Montauk State Park Officials who are working to clean up the park and ensure it is ready for campers,” said Smith.
“We have experienced a historic flood and I hope we will never see the likes of it again in our lifetimes,” Smith added. “Communities are committed to getting back to normal. Their dedication is amazing and is playing a vital role in the recovery of southeast and south central Missouri after this major natural disaster.”
