WASHINGTON – Congressman Jason Smith (MO-08) recognized Rachel and Samuel Cobb from West Plains as ‘Angels in Adoption’ Tuesday at a Capitol Hill ceremony held by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute.
“Rachel and Samuel are an inspiration to all of us who value life,” said Congressman Smith. “They have found their purpose in helping and supporting vulnerable children all over the world, and it was my privilege to nominate them for the Angels in Adoption Award.”
Rachel and Samuel Cobb own Real Wood Floors in West Plains, where they established a vision to enrich the lives of orphans around the world. They invest financial resources to help employees adopt, and they support charities in Asia that care for vulnerable children and abandoned orphans.
“We were honored to be nominated by Congressman Smith for the Angels in Adoption Award,” said Rachel Cobb. “It was humbling to be among so many deserving individuals who advocate for adoption and foster care, and we’re so appreciative of everything Congressman Smith did for us during our family’s first trip to Washington, D.C.”
The Cobbs say they found their purpose when visiting the Shepherd’s Field Orphanage in Tianjin, China, where they noticed problems with the existing floors. After offering to supply the orphanage new floors, the Cobb family enlisted the help of their best customers who are flooring contractors to help install the flooring. The company realized they had found their mission, and to date Real Wood Floors has provided 25,500 square foot of flooring and over $50,000 in financial donations to the work of Shepherd's Field.
CCAI’s Angels in Adoption Program honors a wide spectrum of individuals and organizations making extraordinary contributions to adoption, permanency, and child welfare. Each year, the Angels in Adoption awardees travel to Washington, D.C., to both celebrate their hard work and dedication to the issues and participate in special events designed to engage them in using their personal experience to effect change on behalf of children in need of families.
