Congressman Jason Smith Seeks Service Academy Nominations
September 3, 2013Today, Congressman Jason Smith announced he is seeking applications for nomination to U.S. Service Academies. As a Member of Congress, Smith is able to make nominations for the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
“Attending a Service Academy can be a life changing experience. Students get a world class education and assume a leadership role in the military upon graduation,” said Smith. “Service Academies attract the best and brightest young people from across the country and I am honored to be able to nominate students who are committed to our nation’s freedoms.”
Young people interested in a nomination must meet the following eligibility requirements for admission to a service academy:
· He or she must be at least 17 years old
· He or she must be a United States citizen
· He or she must be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.
